Adding a request[edit]

  • First, try to find an image on your own (see help on public domain image resources.)
  • For a photo of a specific location, it may be possible to contact someone near to the location and request that they take a photo. The nearest photographer tool can help to locate users who are near to specific locations.
  • Add your request to a subcaption (create a subcaption if necessary, any language OK, English preferred) on the request page:
    • One request for one image only.
    • Link to a page where you want the image to be placed (any Wikipedia article / Wikimedia project page is OK).
    • If possible, include an external link to a picture about the request.
    • Sign your request in case there are questions (use ~~~~).

    • It might be extremely difficult to compile a list of countries that have Mitsubishi elevators. With so many companies/institutions using their elevators since the 1930s, I doubt anyone could come up with that list.   • I am looking for two line-art illustrations to illustrate the concepts of dynamic stability and instability.. One shows a "hill", the shape of the positive side of a sine wave, with a ball on top of the "peak". The other shows a "valley", the negative side of a sine wave, with the ball at the bottom, inside the "cup". I'm looking for something similar to the illustration found here, but without the baselines, and of somewhat higher quality. Thanks! Astronomy[edit]

This picture on this site is a striking illustration of the decrease of the Earth's axial tilt. It shows the Sun's light on the floor of the San Petronio Basilica in Bologne, Italy, on the day of the winter solstice. The light was exactly at the center more than two centuries ago; a shift, due to the decrease of the axial tilt, is clearly visible today. I can see a few uses for that picture or an equivalent one. I have imported a few images on Commons, but I feel I must ask for help for this one, especially for the question of rights. Thank you.

Earth terminator[edit]

Category:Terminator has many images but few real photographs, one of them being the low quality and old File:Crescent_Earth_from_Galileo.jpg.   • There is a disputed painting of Vercocchio in the Uffizi, by his student, Lorenzo di Credi (often credited with drawings formerly attributed to Leonardo). Vasari's Lives had a biography of him, and an edition had an engraving of Vercocchio's portrait, done in 1568, which is clearly based on the aforementioned painting (shown in reverse, probably because it was drawn onto the wood directly, rather than transferred, which would have reversed the drawing, then the print would have reversed it back to "normal").
  • I would like to see a high quality image of the full-length portrait of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. The portrait is in the National Palace and can be seen here. The portrait currently on Commons Miguel HIdalgo y Costilla is a later copy, much poorer than the original which was painted by Joaquin Ramirez. It would also be nice to have photos that avoid the standard nicotine-advertising tropes; for instance, not a clinically-clean shot with little to no trace of actual smoke (which misrepresents the product), or, say, a glamourous shot of a young and healthy model in a setting and clothing that suggest high social status, high technology, strong social connections and rebellious independence (which is highly unrepresentative of actual users). Possibly the JewishGen, Inc. has to be contacted first.

Lubelska vodka[edit]

I was looking for images of Lubelska vodka made in Poland because when I looked up on free images, Lubelska wasn't there. Since Lubelska has several awards and flavors to choose from, I was still looking at it, even if this vodka was similar to w:Krupnik and w:Soplica. Since the only two websites that show Lubelska (PopKult and Stock Spirits, of which Lubelska is made in w:Stock Spirits and w:Polmos Lublin. The pictures I request were seven Lubelska vodka flavors from PopKult {published in 2017} and ten flavors in ten images from Stock Spirits (including mango (flavor released on April 2020), jeżynówka, and gruszkówka, age confirmation required), as well as Lubelska website (age confirmation required, accepts several languages like Polish except English). Romanian weapons please[edit]

Romania built 1 minelayer and 2 full-size submarines in WW2, but for some reason there is no picture of them on Wikipedia. Why? Plus that they now have articles of their own: NMS Rechinul, NMS Marsuinul and NMS Amiral Murgescu. Romania also assembled 4 river monitors from parts built in Austria-Hungary, in 1907. They were the largest warships on the Danube, at 680 tons. Again, just why there is no picture of them? Finally, there's the Mareșal tank destroyer, who inspired the German Hetzer. Yet again, no picture. Why, why and why. For Rechinul and Marsuinul, this picture http://www.worldwar2.ro/foto/?id=225&section=21&article=250 should do. For Amiral Murgescu, one picture http://photobucket.com/images/amiral%20murgescu from Photobucket, I personally recommend the profile one, it conveys the ship the best. For the Mareșal, its pretty easy, just make an English version of the file https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fi%C8%99ier:Maresal_l.jpg on the Romanian Wiki. And for the river monitors, just use one of the two pictures on the Russian Wiki here https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9C%D0%BE%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%82%D0%BE%D1%80%D1%8B_%D1%82%D0%B8%D0%BF%D0%B0_%C2%AB%D0%90%D0%B7%D0%BE%D0%B2%C2%BB article. Please do something, its a real shame to have so many war vehicles with no picture to represent them on the Wiki.

We can't just copy pictures from random websites into Commons. It has to be clearly defined as what is the license of that picture. Regarding the second case with existing picture on Romanian wiki, as it is clearly described there it is a non-free work, only presented on ro-wiki with fair use clause. Could the Arabic image be transferred to Wiki Commons and then added back into these articles, please?
