Description
English: Achernar is the primary component of the binary system Alpha Eridani 140 ly away in the constellation of Eridanus - Hottest and bluest of the ten brightest stars in the sky - Unusual rapid rotational velocity causing its oblate-shape (the least spherical star known with a 56% difference between equatorial and polar diameters) - The high temperatures at its poles ejects matter and generates hot gas and plasma envelopes - It has an A-type companion orbiting at 12 AU
