Summary[edit]

Description
English: This photo, probably taken on or just after D-Day itself, shows the temporary grave of Major Hugh Victor Duke MC & Bar on Gold Beach, Normandy, France. His body was later moved to the Bayeux War Cemetery. I re-photographed this photo from the photo album belonging to my late mother, his youngest sister, Phyllis M. Duke (1921-70) (married name Loxdale).
